Its test-taker friendly design lets you skip questions within a section, go back and change answers and have the flexibility to choose which questions within a section you want to answer first. There are five sections.

The new GRE General Test has been available since September 22, 2023.
You can take the GRE General Test up to five times per year, with a minimum of 21 days between each test.
The cost of the new GRE General Test is the same as the current test, which is $213 in the United States and $220 internationally (subject to change).
You can easily register for the new GRE General Test online at the ETS website.
You have the flexibility to take the shorter GRE at test centres or from the comfort of your home.
Graduate and professional programs will continue to use GRE General Test scores to assess your readiness for their programs, compare your strengths against other applicants, and for scholarship considerations.
The score scales for the shorter GRE will remain the same as those of the current test. Refer to the score scale chart for more details.
With a reduced score delivery time frame, test-takers will receive their scores within 8 working days.
Yes, The Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning sections are section-level adaptive. The first section of each measure (i.e., Verbal and Quantitative) is of average difficulty. The difficulty level of the second section of each of the measures depends on your overall performance on the first section. For example, if you do very well on the first Quantitative Reasoning section, the second section of Quantitative Reasoning will be at a higher level of difficulty. The scoring for the Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning measures takes into consideration the total number of questions answered correctly across the two sections, as well as the difficulty level of the sections.
